Point and Shoot for Your life by Robin Murphy is a tale of mystery and suspense. Hannah Mills, local photographer, is struggling for work and to pay her rent. Great-Aunt Dorothy comes to the rescue from beyond the grave after she leaves Hannah a First Phase Indian Chief Navajo blanket, a very rare item worth at least a million dollars. That kind of money would set Hannah up for life. But, before she can take it to auction, her niece is kidnapped and a ransom demanded – the blanket. Hannah has to go to France to get her niece back, but she has no money to get there until she robs a bank. Arrested for the crime as she makes the drop in Paris, Hannah isn’t going quietly and she drags FBI agent Finn MacNally along with her for the ride. Can they find Mandy before it’s too late? Can they really win a fight against the biggest Russian human and drug trafficking ring or will their luck run out at the last minute?
Point and Shoot for Your Life by Robin Murphy is a funny book. A mixture of humor, murder, mystery, suspense and romance, it has all the ingredients of a rollicking good read and it delivered all it promised. I found myself laughing, cringing, and holding my breath at different points during the story as I hung on for the ride. This is a book with no let-up; it starts on a high and just keeps on going, action all the way. The plot was very clever, brilliantly written, and the characters really fitted the bill. This is a story that will leave you breathless and, by the time the end arrives, worn out and ready to let go. Really great story, well-written and good fun to read. Would love to see more of this.

After several months of exceptionally vivid, wonderfully sexy dreams in which she is visited by a mysterious stranger who punishes and pleasures her as he sees fit, one night Ellie awakens to find herself in an unfamiliar place. She is lying naked on a table in an odd, purple-lit room, exposed and vulnerable, and the man who looms over her is devastatingly handsome yet definitely not human.

Certain that she is the perfect woman for him and wanting her to experience life as his mate, he invites her to stay with him, but he makes it clear that she will have to submit to him completely.
Though his warning that she will be thoroughly spanked for any disobedience gives Ellie pause, Valodar’s mere presence leaves her yearning for his touch and she cannot resist accepting his offer. She quickly discovers that Valodar possesses unique physical traits, and he sends her tumbling into one shattering climax after another, claiming her more thoroughly than she would have ever thought possible.
But even as love begins to blossom between the dominant alien and the feisty human girl, their growing passion is interrupted when the Earth suddenly falls under threat from a cunning and ruthless alien race. I was on vacation in Florida and admiring the stunning beach houses on Gasparilla Island. I wondered what it would be like to own one. That lead to the idea of my late husband leaving me his, only I had no idea he owned property in the USA, much less a million dollar beach house. How did he afford? Why did he keep it secret? Thus the idea for Ring of Lies was conceived. When you wrote the book did you know you were going to offer it as an audio book?
Not at the time. I often listen to audiobooks as a way of relaxing, and thought how good it would feel to have one of my own novels recorded and marketed as an audiobook. As I am not a resident of the USA, Amazon’s ACX facility is not available to me. However, once the idea took hold, I wasn’t going to allow myself to be deterred!
Why did you decide to produce an audio book?
As I mentioned, the Amazon ACX (Audiobook Creation Exchange) facility is unavailable to authors outside of the USA, which meant I had not only to find and audition a suitable narrator, but also find a producer who held an account with Audible. After much research and negotiations with various audiobook production companies I signed a contract with Dave Giorgio of BookRite Books.
How did you choose the reader for the book and the production company?
Dave Giorgio recommended Michelle Ford as a possible narrator. Michelle is British, although she now lives in the USA and has worked for the BBC, Disney, and has narrated books for many of the major publishing houses. Michelle was a perfect match for Grace, my female protagonist. And the rest, as they say, is history. The audiobook version of Ring of Lies was released just prior to Christmas 2013
Do your research! There are many companies offering audiobook production. Audition as many narrators as you can to find the best voice for your project. Your chosen narrator should enunciate clearly, but able to ‘act’ the part of your characters, portraying all the emotion necessary to bring the book alive. What else would you like to share with readers about your audio book?
I’m delighted to say that Ring of Lies has been awarded, what I hope, is the first of many 5 star reviews on Audible.co.uk!
