What was your inspiration for this book?
The original inspiration for the story rose while watching my four year old son playing with a small group of new friends on the beach, during a seaside holiday. Whenever the showers came they sought refuge in our beach tent and something was needed to keep them occupied (quiet). Jimmy Crikey was born to entertain the kids for a half-hour or so until the clouds passed over. Over the course of several afternoons, the story had to expand to meet their demands for more. hold their interest and Jimmy Crikey's adventures grew to keep pace with demand.
Why did you decide to produce an audiobook?
Once my son had his own children he read the Jimmy Crikey story to them at bed times and added multiple voices and accents. He made the book come alive in a way I could not emulate so when I came across John Finch's audio book production company I tool the opportunity he offered. Sadly he taken by a brain tumour just as he was beginning my next audio production. But John's brilliant work is available for all to enjoy in the almost nine hour production.
How did you choose the reader for the book and the production company?
John Finch put together the team of actors and the narrator Paul Enright King was already known to him. An excellent choice to tell my precious story and to add his own charm to the production. Paul has narrated the next Jimmy Crikey adventure which is currently in process of production.
