What was your inspiration for this book?
I have loved stories about aliens and space since my early childhood. Roswell fascinates me and one of my all-time favorite shows is the X-Files. With all that in mind, a Gram Rabbit song called "Cowboys & Aliens" inspired my imagination to ponder: What if the Roswell crash were real, and they recovered a live alien as well as debris? And what if they engineered a human alien hybrid in a clandestine lab? From there, the story flowed quickly into the young adult sci-fi adventure that became H.A.L.F.: The Deep Beneath.

Why did you decide to produce an audiobook?
Talking with readers at comic cons and book festivals, many requested an audiobook version. I want readers to be able to read my book in whatever version they like to read best.

How did you choose the reader for the book and the production company?
I have used ACX to find narrators for all of my audiobooks. We had over 30 auditions for H.A.L.F.: The Deep Beneath! Choosing Andrew to read was easy—he simply gave the best performance. Listeners have said they especially enjoy his performance of Tex.
